A Traditional Feng Shui consultation involves several steps and can be accomplished long distance if you do not live in Los Angeles or Santa Barbara / Montecito. Most of my clients are in Montecito having lived there for over 25 years, however since my practice has expanded I have learned to accommodate people from a distance.
A consultation initially involves taking the compass reading of the space, creating an accurate floor plan, noting the birthdate of the occupants and the date of construction of the home or office. Then the three systems of Feng Shui; The Land and Form System, The Flying Star System, and The East/West Directions System are applied and analyzed.
The first appointment takes approximately an hour to draw up the floor plan if you don’t already have one, take the compass reading, and make my observations of the interior and the exterior environment. Also at this time, the client is able to share with me their concerns and goals so that I can better address those issues when analyzing the property.
The second appointment involves the recommendations for what needs to be done and why. This can take up to 2 to 3 hours depending on the size of the space. Some recommendations will take time to implement, such as the installation of a water fountain, but most can be done immediately right there and then.
Lastly, the Feng Shui needs to be updated annually because the energies change every year on February 5th. At this time of year, I send out an email to my clients asking whether there is anything specific I should look more deeply into. I then revisit the property to update the remedies and advise on various recommendations. My fees are determined by the square footage of the space. I charge $800.00 per 1,000 square feet, with a minimum charge of $800.00. The fee for the annual update is $350.00 per 1,000 square feet.
I always advise that one consider the Feng Shui of a home before moving in to determine whether or not it is right for you. Your house and you should ideally be in alignment. Obviously there are many things to consider, however if at a basic level the house is not in alignment with the occupants, it will make achieving harmony and prosperity a challenge.
